John J McNally in the Community

“more than a Solicitors Practice”

Within the Local Community

We are proud to have been an integral part of the fabric of the Community in Mid-Ulster for 90 years, providing representation and access to justice for all members of society regardless of class, race, colour or creed.
Our engagement with the local community is however so much more than simply providing legal services.
Our Director, Stephen Atherton, was at the forefront of the successful campaign which opposed the closure of Magherafelt Court.
The overwhelming majority of our staff are recruited locally and have remained loyal to the practice for many years.
We continue to invest in the young people in our area, providing employment opportunities and work experience to students educated in local schools.
Our commitment to youth is further evidenced by our continued sponsorship of Rainey Old Boys Rugby Football Club and O’Donovan Rossa Gaelic Athletic Club.
We are an active supporter of numerous local charities, run campaigns on behalf of McMillan Cancer Relief and have recently raised funds for the magnificent children and staff within Kilronan School in Magherafelt.

Throughout the wider community

We are committed to representing our practice and our community within forums throughout wider civic society.

Marysia Kelly is a member of the Queen’s Bench Clinical Negligence Sub-Committee, and is a member of the Management Board for the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Practitioner’s Group. She has assisted as a tutor on the Clinical Negligence Couse at the Institute of Legal Studies, Belfast.

Stephen Atherton was recently involved in a select group of Solicitors tasked with formulating the response of the Law Society to the review of Lord Justice Gillen in relation to the trial of Sexual Offences in Northern Ireland.

Alison O’Malley, in her role as Secretary of the South Derry Solicitors Association, is heavily involved in organising Continued professional development for her peers and is regularly required to engage with the Law Society of Northern Ireland to protect and advance the interests of her fellow Solicitors and clients.

In addition to our current influence nationally, our practice has been the starting point for esteemed members of the judiciary, in the form of Liam McNally and Peter O’Brien has risen to high office within the Law Society. These individuals continue to be the benchmark and an inspiration to our existing Solicitors.
